Disappointing News: Mixed Race Hispanic Actress Zoe Saldana Steals Nina Simone Lead Role Meant For A Black American Actress!!!

This casting news is so disgusting I think I am going to vomit! Zoe Saldana looks nothing like Nina Simone she wasn’t a mixed race Latina she’s was an authentic black American woman. Nina Simone wasn’t mulatto, mixed race, half white, half caste, biracial, or whatever you want to call it. Nina Simone was a proud black woman!
For black women in Hollywood, the closer a black actress or biracial actress skin tone is to the white image of beauty the better opportunities she gets. Saldana markets herself as a Hispanic actress NOT as a black American actress so it is extremely hypocritical for Saldana to take this important film role.
Ten years ago, Halle Berry was the A list black actress she also is half white.
Since Zoe Saldana is mixed race and considered lighter skinned she’s viewed as more marketable to white audiences in America and overseas.
However, where does this leave the talented darker skinned black actresses in Hollywood?
Saldana got the part for Nina Simone because Hollywood has anointed her as the new A list black actress.
However, Nina Simone was a very political she wasn’t just a singer she was a civil rights activist in the 1960s. Simone sang passionate songs about black rights such as Mississippi God damn, and Young, Gifted, & Black.
 Saldana is part black but she certainly isn’t proud of her black roots! Last year, when Colombiana was released all Saldana talked about in interviews was Latin this and Latin that.
Saldana is a chameleon, she plays with race and culture when it is convenient to advance her own career. Since Saldana is mixed race she uses race to her advantage whenever it is convenient to advance her career.
Nina Simone was a dark skinned black woman she was a proud black woman I bet she’s spinning in her grave right now!
Also, Saldana hasn’t proven she’s that great an actress. Yes, Saldana has appeared in Avatar and Star Trek but she isn’t a great actress.
There is a paucity of leading lady roles for black females in Hollywood so Hollywood thinks choosing a mixed race Hispanic is the way to go?
Why couldn’t Zoe Saldana follow Halle Berry’s lead? When Aretha Franklin wanted Halle to be the star of the biopic about her life Halle said no!
Halle knew the black community would be in an uproar if a half white actress was chosen to to the star in a film about the Queen of Soul music!
Now, Zoe Saldana has a history of talking about being proud of her Latin roots in interviews while stealing film roles meant for black actresses.
Remember,  Star Trek, Uhura is a black woman but since Hollywood is focused on profit the studio chose Saldana. This is a slap in the face to all the hard working black women in Hollywood!
I think Viola Davis, Anika Noni Rose,  India Arie, or some other black American actress would be the perfect choice for this biopic. I am so angry and disgusted I feel like screaming at the top of my lungs!

In the year 1995, Leonardo Dicaprio and David Thewlis starred in the independent drama Total Eclipse. I remember the first time I watched Total Eclipse on cable television. I was surprised that Leo took on this role because this was before he became a superstar.  Although Total Eclipse didn’t get the praise or media attention like Brokeback Mountain I think Total Eclipse is the superior film. Total Eclipse is a love story about two French poets in the late nineteenth century France. Perhaps, the mainstream media wasn’t ready for such a powerful gay film back in 1995?

I am just not impressed with the gay scenes from the biopic J Edgar I feel the movie wasn’t gay enough.  Let me know what you think? Do you think the J Edgar biopic was or wasn’t gay enough?  I think the first scene when Armie Hammer’s character tells J Edgar he loves him is tender. However, I don’t like the fight scene I feel it is bit too pretentious. Where is the gay passion?  There is only one gay kiss in the entire film. Where are the gay sex scenes? The audience needed to see J Edgar and Clyde in bed together. The movie suggests the love between J Edgar and Clyde is an unrequited love which I don’t believe.

One argument is, the movie is discussing Edgar’s sexual repression due to the time period. However, I find it hard to believe that J Edgar and Clyde did not have a homosexual relationship. Where is the gay sex? I think Hollywood is so homophobic that there is still a reticence to exploring the sexual aspect of male homosexuality.

When J Edgar Hoover died in 1972,  he left his entire estate worth $3 million dollars to Clyde Tolson. In fact, when Clyde died in 1975 he was buried close to J Edgar’s grave. I think the screenwriter Dustin Lance Black  and Clint Eastwood were afraid of upsetting the heterosexual audience due to marketing reasons. The facts are J Edgar Hoover was a crossdresser and a homosexual. J Edgar and Clyde did everything together they worked together, took vacations together, and Edgar even took photos of Clyde sleeping. It is ludicrous that the movie doesn’t explore the homosexuality enough. I think the movie needed to be more gay.

Is Actress Kerry Washington Making A Mistake For Agreeing To Star in Quentin Tarantino’s Slave Film Django Unchanied?

According to the website Deadline.com, actress Kerry Washington has agreed to star in Quentin Tarantino’s controversial slavery film Django Unchained. Django Unchained will be released in December 2012.

Kerry’s character Broomhilda, will be raped by white men multiple times in the film. According to the Django Unchained script,  there are suggestions that Broomhilda is “in love” with a white male slave master.

Is this really possible? Could a white slave master really fall in love with his female slave?  The black female slaves had no choice they either slept with the white male slave master or they were murdered. I don’t think it was “love” at all.

Also, some black women during slavery wanted their slave children to obtain freedom so they slept with the white master.

In fact, Broomhilda will also appear  nude in many scenes in the movie. I understand that interracial sex did occur during slavery because white men owned their black female slaves. I am not disputing that white men raped black women during slavery or had mixed race offspring.

However, I am concerned about Kerry’s decision to appear nude in the film and being raped multiple times by white men. Is Django Unchained just Quentin Tarantino’s racist sexual fantasy to treat the black female body as a sexual fetish for white men? I wonder, because Tarantino has a history of depicting black women in his movies in very sexualized and stereotypical roles.

Does Kerry really think appearing in a degrading film will launch her career to the A list?  I wonder if Kerry has thought it through? Why would Kerry want to take on such a degrading role? Isn’t Kerry cognizant of how Hollywood stereotypes black female sexuality as licentious?

I also wonder, is a slave movie the best role a young black actress can get in Hollywood?
