OTTAWA — The nation’s most wanted man, Luka Rocco Magnotta, once described in an Internet blog post how to disappear completely and never be found.
The central suspect in a gruesome Montreal murder — a dismembered foot from the victim was mailed to Conservative Party headquarters in downtown Ottawa — Magnotta, 29, once offered step-by-step instruction on starting a new life in another country.
“A minimum of four months is really necessary to carry out the heroic actions necessary to leave your old life behind,” he wrote in 2009.
Magnotta, a former male prostitute and porn film actor, said it was necessary to slowly withdraw from all social circles; acquire two sets of false identification; convert all assets to cash; then take a bus to a chosen destination after selling a car somewhere else to mislead authorities.
The game plan for his own disappearance is part of Magnotta’s enormous digital presence.
It will now be the difficult task of police investigators to sort fact from fiction.
Already, Montreal police have confirmed one of the many bizarre elements of Magnotta’s online profile: that he once dated notorious sex killer Karla Homolka.
Magnotta — he was born Eric Newman — has in the past denied any connection to Homolka. “I just wish it would stop,” Magnotta told a reporter in September 2007. “I wish they would leave me alone.” Luka Magnotta is an Internet spectre. He is an inveterate blogger and a man of a dozen Facebook pages.
He’s also among the Internet’s most notorious fiends, accused of asphyxiating kittens in a plastic bag, drowning another and feeding still another to a python. The cruelties were videotaped and posted online.
The face of the perpetrator in those videos cannot be seen, but Magnotta was later identified as the culprit by a Facebook group dedicated to establishing the identity of the so-called Vacuum Bag Kitten Killer.
Magnotta has denied those accusations, but the charges follow him across his many Facebook pages.
“I have been surrounded by haters for years,” he has posted. “They come into my life … see that I have so much more than them going for me … they get jealous and try to bring me down.”
He once told his Internet enemies that he would vanish: “In the near future, I can’t wait to completely disappear and never be found again. A tropical island sounds nice. So, losers, stop writing about me and get a life.”
More recently, he has been linked to a sickening “snuff video” that shows someone dressed in black repeatedly stabbing a man on a bed.
Police in Montreal found a headless, limbless torso in a suitcase on Tuesday near the apartment building where Magnotta lived in the Snowdon district of Montreal. The police have a video of the crime.
Police have said the torso belongs to the same person whose foot and hand were discovered in Ottawa. The severed foot was delivered to Conservative Party headquarters, while the severed hand was in another package found at the Ottawa Postal Terminal.
In Montreal, Magnotta’s neighbours said he lived in the low-income apartment building for about four months, but kept to himself.
“It was like I was talking to the wall,” Richard Payette, who lives across from Magnotta’s second-floor apartment, told the Montreal Gazette. “I never heard a peep from him.”
Magnotta, he said, disappeared a few days ago.
A few residents were sitting on the apartment building’s front stairway several days ago, he said, when they saw Magnotta leave the building and walk south down Décarie Blvd. He appeared to be wearing a strange wig. Someone joked about Magnotta “having a bad hair day.”
Derek MacKinnon, another resident of the building, said he believes he might have been the last person to talk to Magnotta before he disappeared.
MacKinnon, an actor who appeared in several horror films in the ’80s, said Magnotta sat down with him on the front stairway to the building, where they discussed acting.
“He invited me to his apartment,” MacKinnon said of his conversation with Magnotta. “It was the first time he had ever talked to me. I’m glad I didn’t accept.
“He wanted to know how to get into legitimate films. He was bothered by what he had done in the past. He wanted to know if working in gay porns was something they would hold against you (in the mainstream movie industry).”
Magnotta’s own blog posts suggest he has worked as a male prostitute, bisexual porn actor and model. He admits to having cosmetic surgery to cover acne scars and hair implants to improve his career opportunities.
Often, he refers online to his own desirability. “Every day I thank God for giving me my looks and brains,” he posted in August 2010, not long after moving to Miami.
Pictures posted on his MySpace page, meanwhile, document his travels across Europe. He’s often pictured alone, but in several photos is seen standing beside a woman identified as an ex-girlfriend.
Some of the pictures were taken by Nicholas Monaco, a Miami-based photographer who met Magnotta in New York four years ago.
“He wanted somebody to take a couple shots of him just in the city,” the 31-year-old photographer told the Citizen.
The pair met near Madison Square Garden and spent about 45 minutes together. Magnotta told Monaco he was a model and paid the photographer $100 in exchange for digital copies of the pictures, which show the accused killer standing in front of the famous arena and exiting a subway station.
“He was kind of a creepy person, you know,” said Monaco.
Magnotta was born Eric Clinton Kirk Newman in Scarborough, Ontario on July 24, 1982.
According to information published in the Ontario Gazette, the professed fan of mafia movies legally changed his name to Luka Rocco Magnotta in July 2006.
Magnotta appeared in at least two issues of fab, the Toronto-based sister magazine to the gay and lesbian alternative newspaper Xtra.
In 2005, Magnotta, who identified himself as Russian-born “Jimmy,” posed shirtless as the magazine’s “fab boy” pin-up model. He told the magazine he hoped to become a police officer.
“I don’t want to do traffic tickets,” he said. “I am thinking vice or homicide.”

Wow Virginie Razzano of France upset Serena Williams 4-6 7-6 6-3 in the first round of the French Open! Razzano is ranked number 111 in the world yet she played the match of her life. Serena got tight in the second set tiebreaker 5-2 but allowed Razzano to win the second set. Next, Razzano raced to the 5-0 lead in the third set before Serena made a comeback. However, after twenty three minutes of a tense final game Razzano won the match. This is the first time in Serena Williams career she has EVER lost in the first round of a grand slam.
I have conflicting feelings about this loss. Serena is thirty years old and it seems to me her days dominating women’s tennis are over. I still believe Serena can win another grand slam but I feel things are only going to get tougher for Serena. Serena lost this match she actually cried after losing the second set. I have never seen Serena just mentally collapse like that.
Thomas Cardinal Collins opposes students calling clubs ’gay-straight alliances’
Public funding of Catholic schools clashed with the right to religious freedom Monday as one of the most powerful church leaders in Canada attacked the Ontario government’s anti-bullying legislation.
“Please consider the implications for all when legislation is enacted that overrides the deeply held beliefs of any faith community, and intrudes on its freedom to act in a way that is in accord with its principles of consciences,” said Thomas Cardinal Collins, Archbishop of Toronto.
The Liberal government initially said Catholic trustees could determine the name for new anti-homophobia student clubs called for in the legislation.
However, last Friday Education Minister Laurel Broten announced all schools would have to allow the groups to be called gay-straight alliances if that’s what the students want.
“Why is a piece of provincial legislation being used to micromanage the naming of student clubs?” asked Mr. Collins.
“We all are committed to obeying the law, but we can question whether the law is wise, whether the law is just or whether a law is a kind of intrusion or limiting of religious freedom.”
Ms. Broten said she changed her mind after hearing from students at committee who said they don’t want her or principals and trustees dictating the names of their clubs.
“We know that words matter. The message that we’re giving to Ontario students today is you will be listened to, it’s your club,” Ms. Broten told reporters.
“The premier and I were both very clear that it was not for us at Queen’s Park to tell them what the name of their club should be, but neither should it be for someone else sitting in some other office in the province to tell them what the name of their club can’t be.”
Ms. Broten didn’t want to speculate about what action she would take if the Catholic schools don’t allow clubs to be called gay-straight alliances, but suggested cutting funding for those who don’t obey the law was one option.
Mr. Collins, who is also president of the Assembly of Catholic Bishops of Ontario, said trustees and principals are the legitimate stewards of the spiritual tradition of Catholic schools, not students.
“Should one student suddenly be able to determine the method to deal with the issues in a school?” he asked.
“I find that very puzzling. The point at issue here is the imposition of the one approach to deal with an issue to which there are many approaches.”
The cardinal warned other faiths could become targets of the government if the anti-bullying bill becomes law and doesn’t allow Catholic schools the right to deal with homophobia in their own ways.
“I would say to people of other faiths and even those who disagree with us on [gay-straight alliances]: if this could happen to us it can happen to you in some other area,” he said.
“When religious freedom becomes a second-class right, you also will eventually be affected.”
Mr. Collins did not point out that no other religious group gets public funding for their schools in Ontario.
The Ontario Catholic School Trustees Association called the word gay “a distraction” and said anti-bullying legislation is supposed to protect all students, not just those who are picked on because of their sexual orientation.
“We don’t want to focus on the name,” said OCSTA president Marino Gazzola.
“We want to focus on the content and what the groups are all about. These are externally developed groups that do not necessarily reflect the unique values of our students.”
The government could not say what percentage of Ontario households or voters are separate school supporters or how much taxpayers have to pay to subsidize the Catholic education system.
The Progressive Conservatives said the Liberals were picking a fight with the Catholic school system, which gets about 33 per cent of Ontario’s $24-billion annual education budget.
“The government has decided in this case to be aggressive, they want to provoke the Catholic education system for whatever reason,” said Tory education critic Lisa MacLeod.
The Green Party of Ontario said the gay-straight alliance issue is a good example of why the cash-strapped province needs to eliminate the separate school system entirely.
“This absolutely is an example of how dangerous it is when you start funding one religion at the exclusion of all others,” said Green Leader Mike Schreiner.
“We’re talking about cutting essential services, including a number of services in the education sector, without even considering or having a conversation about the most obvious source of duplication in the system, which is the fact that we fund two separate school boards.”
The Tories said they would try to block the amendment that would force Catholic schools to allow gay-straight alliances by that name.
“I’m personally of the view if children want a club they should have a club. However, you have to allow the school community to have a say in that as well,” said Ms. MacLeod.
“I believe that there needs to be less, not more government intrusion in the lives of people, and we don’t believe that Queen’s Park should be legislating kids’ clubs names, regardless of what they are.”
The New Democrats said the Liberals have finally got it right by admitting you can’t solve a problem like homophobia if you’re afraid to use the word “gay.”
“It’s pretty clear that all the boards should be following the same rules,” said NDP Leader Andrea Horwath.

Gay Activists Detained While Demanding Right to Hold Parade
About 40 gay activists were detained by police in Moscow today while trying to demand their right to hold a gay pride parade, according to organizers of the march.
Russian authorities have repeatedly denied gays the right to hold protests.
The activists gathered outside the Moscow city council building, where they were accosted by Orthodox Christians before being detained by the police. The Christians attempted to break up the gathering, throwing water, attacking protesters, and grabbing the demonstrators’ rainbow flags.
Gay rights opponent Dmitry Tsarionov spoke to the crowd in front of a sign that read, “Moscow is not Sodom.”
“I will not allow perverts to bring the wrath of God onto our city,” he said, according to The Associated Press. “I want our children to live in a country where a sin that so awfully distorts human nature is not preached in schools.”
Gay activists tried to hold another protest at city hall, but were again detained, including Moscow Gay Pride founder Nikolai Alexeyev, who led the protests.
“It’s sad that Russia has completely turned into a totalitarian state. I was arrested because I opened my mouth in front of a group of journalists,”tweeted Alexeyev today. He also expressed frustration that more members of the gay community did not come out for the march.
“Once more today I was convinced of the bravery of a couple dozen activists and the complete cowardice of all gay partiers. They are the real pederasts,”read another tweet.
He told Interfaks that he was satisfied with the result of the “gay parade.”
“It again seemed to me that the government acted illegally,” he tweeted. He plans to hold another gay pride parade next year, to mark the 20-year anniversary of the 1993 lifting of the law that made being gay a crime.
Alexeyev was the first person fined for spreading “gay propaganda” to minors, which under a new law in St. Petersburg is a crime. Alexeyev stood outside St. Petersburg’s city hall with a sign that read, “homosexuality is not a perversion.”
The law, enacted in March, effectively bans homosexual publications, protests and events, such as parades. The Russian parliament is considering making the law a national one.

As mentioned in a previous post, X-Men’s Canadian speedster and openly gay character Northstar was expected to marry his boyfriend Kyle Jinadu in the 51st issue of Astonishing X-Men (due out June 20).
Québécois superhero Northstar was one of Marvel’s first openly gay characters, who came out when he was a member of the Canadian superhero team Alpha Flight (No. 106) in 1992.
The proposal took place in issue number 50, which clearly caught Jinadu (who is not a mutant or superhero) by surprise.
Even though both characters are Canadian, the wedding will reportedly take place in New York City, where gay marriage is legal. (With the same-sex marriage debate raging south of the border, they certainly need the representation much more than we do where here, we usually just call gay marriage by what it’s supposed to be called: marriage.)
Since Northstar’s coming out, several other Marvel characters have also come out, including the New Mutant’s Karma, villains Mystique and Destiny, bisexuals Rictor and Shatterstar (who were depicted kissing), teen characters Hulking and Wiccan, Rawhide Kid, and transgender alien Xavin.
Earlier this month, DC Comics also announced that one of its major characters, who was previously perceived to be straight, will come out as gay.
DC already has several minor gay characters, including Obsidian, Pied Piper, and bisexuals Sarah Rainmaker and Icemaiden. One of the more major out-characters is Batwoman, in addition to the superheroes Midnighter and Apollo (published by DC’s Wildstorm imprint), who got married in 2002.
Speculation ran rampant across the web about which character would come out. Would it be Batman, Superman, Flash, Shazam, Plastic Man, or someone else?
Well, Bleeding Cool is reporting that, according to sources, the suspected character is the original Green Lantern, Alan Scott.
However, there hasn’t been any official confirmation yet.
But perhaps Green Lantern’s Achilles heel should have been a tip-off from the beginning: his weakness is wood. (Groan.)
Okay, moving right along, folks. As predicted, those repressed killjoys otherwise known as One Million
Moms Morons are at it again (since they have nothing else to do and obviously lack the capacity for introspection to understand what it is that actually bothers them about the depiction of homosexuality, such as their own closeted sexual orientation).
They’re claiming that these companies are brainwashing children. (But isn’t that what they’ve always done?)
Here’s what they stated on their website:
Can you imagine little boys saying, “I want a boyfriend or husband like X-Men?”
This is ridiculous! Why do adult gay men need comic superheroes as role models? They don’t but do want to indoctrinate impressionable young minds by placing these gay characters on pedestals in a positive light. These companies are heavily influencing our youth by using children’s superheroes to desensitize and brainwash them in thinking that a gay lifestyle choice is normal and desirable. As Christians, we know that homosexuality is a sin (Romans 1:26-27).
Yet for some reason, they don’t state what these comic book companies would stand to gain by doing so. Hmm.
Archie comics featured its first same-sex wedding in Life With Archie , released in January. One Million Moms launched a campaign to get Toys R Us to remove the issue. Instead, readers bought up the issue in droves, with the issue selling out by March.
These gay comic book storylines coincide with Pride Month in North America in June, and arrive just after President Obama’s support of same-sex marriage.
Speculation on John Travolta’s sexual orientation has dogged the actor for years. Is he or isn’t he gay? He has been married to actress Kelly Preston since 1991. Publicly, they have always maintained that their marriage is completely traditional. So why do these rumors persist? Is it mere speculation? Is he living a secret homosexual life? Is he an easy target because of the roles that he has played? I have a somewhat vested interest in this story, because nearly three years ago I left my husband when I discovered he was gay. I have a particular disdain for the “closet” and for anyone perpetuating secrets and lies about their sexual orientation.
John Travolta is far from the only high-profile personality who has dealt with these types of accusations. Others have included Tom Cruise, Ryan Seacrest, George Clooney, Kelly Clarkson, Alicia Keys, and even Oprah Winfrey. In the case of Travolta, most of the allegations have been from men seeking monetary gain, although not all of them have sought money, as one man simply went to the press with his story. Then there is Vikki Lizzi, the longtime girlfriend of the now-deceased actor Jeff Conaway. She now claims that years ago Travolta sexually assaulted her partner while he was sleeping. It is difficult to ascertain her reasoning for revealing this accusation now, as her deceased partner cannot corroborate the story. But at the same time, what does she have to gain from telling it? Was she paid for her story, or does she feel it is simply the time to be upfront and set the record straight (or in this case, set the record “gay”) now that multiple accusers have surfaced?
Ultimately, someone’s sexual orientation is his or her own business. Travolta should be free to love and have sex with whomever he wants and not need to broadcast it to the world. However, if he is hiding his true nature and living in the closet, he is setting a horrible example for young gay men and women. Moreover, if he is using a straight spouse as cover, he is sending the message that to survive, you must hide and take others down with you.
If he is using his wife as a sort of prop and she doesn’t know it, then she has my deepest sympathies, although if she entered this marriage with full knowledge that her husband was gay or bisexual and that occasional sexual affairs were part of the bargain, then none of this is our business. Travolta’s religion, Scientology, has had a somewhat uneven history on the subject of homosexuality. The church officially states that it is one of tolerance toward gay people, but the original teachings of L. Ron Hubbard read as very homophobic. But it is not as if John Travolta is condemning the lives of gay people or working to suppress gay rights, like the hypocritical Ted Haggard, who was condemning gay people from the pulpit, only to later acknowledge having had gay affairs.
However, if Travolta is gay and feels the need to hide is sexual orientation in order to have a successful acting career, then that is a tragedy, for his family and for him. The “closet” is a suffocating place to be; it forces a person to constantly lie and live in fear. They must lie to their loved ones, themselves, and their partners. If these accusations about Travolta are true, then I suspect that some of his gay partners might be coming out now due to resentment toward him for getting to have his cake and eat it, too — that is, living the life of a straight man, free of the societal stigma, harassment, bullying, and discrimination that gay people face, while secretly seeking gay sexual encounters. Having personally dealt with a closeted gay husband, this cuts me to the bone. Most people in my position didn’t know the truth until we’d invested years, sometimes decades, into a marriage, and we don’t have multimillion-dollar estates to soften the blow.
With changing attitudes toward homosexuality and greater acceptance of gay people, no one should have to live like this. Other openly gay or bisexual actors like Zachary Quinto, Rupert Everett, Ian McKellen, Neil Patrick Harris, Ellen DeGeneres, Portia de Rossi, Jane Lynch, and Alan Cumming haven’t hurt their careers by coming out. After all, an actor’s job is to play roles. We all know that Travolta is not the same man who was an assassin for hire in Pulp Fiction, nor is he Edna Turnblad from Hairspray. Plenty of women were swooning when Zachary Quinto portrayed Spock in the last Star Trek movie, even though we suspected he was gay. Travolta’s sex life is his own personal business, but if his marriage is a fraud, then I wish he would come clean. If more gay men were open and proud, we would have much less suffering, and no misled spouses like me. I would never want anyone else to go through what I have gone through. Living life as one half of someone else’s lie is a torture I wouldn’t wish on my worst enemy.
Lil Kim is is currently on tour across the United States to reclaim her throne as the Queen of hip hop. This 105.1 interview is interesting because Lil Kim accuses Cash Money Records of stealing her sound and tracks. Remember, Lil Kim released her first album Hard Core in 1996 which obtained double platinum certification in the United States. Lil Kim has released several platinum albums she’s one of the most successful female rappers of all time.
Lil Kim stands her ground with the male radio hosts in this interview!
According to Lil Kim, the media and the rap industry are sexist against female rappers. Lil Kim argues the music industry seems to only want one top female rap artist at a time.
However, in the past Eve, Queen Latifah, MC Lyte, Lil Kim, Foxy Brown were all successful female rappers. In the past, female rappers got a long and worked together.
Lil Kim has been in the music industry for over fifteen years. Lil Kim also says that Nicki Minaj is an obnoxious person. I can’t wait to hear Nicki’s response!!!
