Is CBC’s Rex Murphy Right Or Wrong? Are The Quebec University Student Protests out of control or effective?

I think it is easy for CBC’s Rex Murphy an old wealthy white man to state Quebec student protests for higher education are out of control. Murphy doesn’t have to worry about paying his bills he has cushy job at the CBC.

Murphy’s argument is too simplistic to just state the Quebec students have entitlement issues.

Canadians for far too long we are just too polite. The Quebec students protests have proven sometimes drastic actions must be taken to fight for student rights.

Young people are the future of Canada and if university tuition continues to rise this means students get into more debt.   If students don’t fight rising tuition,

one day Canada’s university tuition will be too high for Canadians and only the wealthy can attend university.

Murphy is apathetic to student concerns. Student loans are not the  solution to this Quebec student protests.

He is a conservative, so I am not surprised at his elitist attitude towards students.

Murphy’s speech is typical of the Canadian elite that younger people should just work harder to pay more.

The real question  Murphy did not ask is why are Quebec’s tuition rates the lowest in Canada? Why aren’t university students in English speaking provinces demanding more? Why are university students in English Canada not complaining more?

The Quebec students are resilient and relentless they refuse to give up. Every single day there are protests across Quebec and I think the students are forcing the Canadian media and politicians to hear them.

I am cognizant that Quebec has the lowest university tuition fees in the country. However, I  admire the Quebec students because their attitude is different than English Canada.  In Quebec, the student groups are very organized and the students are fighting for their rights. There is a long tradition and history that education should be available for all people.

David Ferrer Of Spain Defeats Milos Raonic Of Canada In Semifinals Of Barcelona In Straight Sets 7-6 7-6!!

David Ferrer of Spain proved today that he is just too consistent and plays the big points better than Milos Raonic of Canada.

After I watched the match I noticed Ferrer’s court positioning is better than Milos. Ferrer is standing on the  baseline while Milos was pushed back behind the baseline. Milos isn’t the best mover on the court and he was forced to do a lot of defending.

Ferrer also attacked Milos backhand he kept hitting hard shots to Milos weaker side and forcing errors. Milos needs to work on his backhand and improve his return of serve if he wants to reach the top ten.

Ferrer is ranked number six in the world for a reason he makes very few errors.  Milos had a couple of break points early in the first set but he did not convert. Ferrer dominated the first set tiebreaker and won the set just under an hour.

In the second set, Milos again had chances but he failed to deliver. Milos had a 3-1 lead in the second set tiebreaker but made errors. Ferrer took control of the second set tiebreaker blasting a backhand down the line to win the match in two hours. Milos had a great week he beat world number four Andy Murray of Great Britain. However, Milos should watch this match on tape with his coach Galo Blanco.  The difference in this match was Ferrer played the big points better. Overall, this was a good week for the young Canadian and hopefully he will rise into the ATP Tour top twenty soon.

Canadian Milos Raonic Shocks World Number Four Andy Murray 6-4 7-6 In Quarterfinals Of Barcelona Clay Event!!!

Milos Raonic of Canada upset Andy Murray of Great Britain 6-4 7-6 in the quarterfinals in Barcelona Spain. Murray was the favorite but Milos attacked Murray’s second serve and blasted huge forehand winners. I am also impressed with Milos movement around the court for a big man he moves well.

Should Toronto Teen Michelle Yu Tell The Truth To Taxpayers For Wasting Public Resources For Her Search?

Michelle Yu is eighteen years old she is an adult not a child. Why was taxpayer’s money wasted on a search for an adult woman? Michelle is old enough to go anywhere she pleases without her parents consent. The Toronto media built up this missing person’s case as though Michelle’s life was in danger and it wasn’t.  Yu decided to runaway from the Toronto area to Vancouver last week.  I had a feeling Michelle ran away from home when her parents said in an interview  “we support you”. Michelle did not contact her family for a few days she just decided to not talk to them.

The Toronto police force searched for Michelle and taxpayer’s money was wasted.  I noticed Michelle still hasn’t explained her reasons for running away. I think Michelle was very selfish and immature  to just run off and not tell her family where she was going.

It is hypocritical of Michelle’s family to now want privacy when taxpayers money was wasted searching for her.

Der Spiegel Article: Bavaria Will Print New Edition Of Adolf Hitler’s Manifesto Mein Kampf for German School Children!!!

Hitler Back in Print

Bavaria Plans New Edition of ‘Mein Kampf’

Coming to a bookstore near you soon.

The copyright on Adolf Hitler’s “Mein Kampf” expires in 2015, after which anyone will be free to republish the infamous tome. Amid fears that neo-Nazis could exploit the text’s new availability, the Bavarian government, which holds the copyright, is planning to bring out its own annotated version. An English version and an audio book are also planned.

The southern German state of Bavaria, which holds the copyright to Adolf Hitler’s polemic “Mein Kampf,” hasn’t allowed the book to be published in Germany since the end of World War II. But the copyright expires in 2015, and there are concerns that neo-Nazis might immediately begin disseminating the work once Bavaria can no longer prevent its publication.

But now Bavaria has announced it will take its own steps to limit the damage the book might cause. Bavarian science minister Wolfgang Heubisch announced on Monday that the state would publish an annotated version of the book. By including commentaries on the text debunking Hitler’s arguments, the state government hopes that readers will not be seduced by the Nazi leader’s propaganda.

The state is also planning a version for schools, with notes that are easy for young people to understand. “The expiration of the copyright in three years’ time could lead to more young people reading ‘Mein Kampf’,” Bavarian Finance Minister Markus Söder said on Tuesday, announcing the decision to publish a school version. Hitler’s book still had something “mystical” attached to it, he said, explaining its attraction to young people. The notes on the text would outline “the global catastrophe that this dangerous way of thinking led to,” Söder said.

Bavaria is also planning to publish an English version of “Mein Kampf,” as well as an e-book and an audio book.

Opting for the Academic Version

Karl Freller, director of a Bavarian foundation that administers the memorials at the former Nazi concentration camps Dachau and Flossenbürg, said the state would talk to publishing houses and bookstores about the project. “We are relying on them to voluntarily refrain from selling or printing ‘Mein Kampf’ and choosing to offer the new academic edition instead,” Freller said.

In 1945, the copyright fell into the hands of the Bavaria government when the state took over the rights of the main Nazi party publishing house Eher-Verlag as part of the Allies’ de-Nazification program. Out of fears that the book could promote neo-Nazis, the Bavarian Finance Ministry, which controls the copyright, has not allowed “Mein Kampf” to be published in Germany since then, although the book is not officially banned. Several foreign language editions have appeared in the meantime.

There is considerable interest in what will happen when the copyright expires in 2015, some 70 years after Hitler’s death. In 2010, historians from the Munich Institute of Contemporary History announced they were already working on an annotated version which they hoped to publish when the copyright expired, or even before.

Think Like A Man Is The Number One Movie In North America Why Is It Called An Urban Movie?

According to, Think Like A Man which is based on comedian Steve Harvey’s self help book grossed $33 million at the North American box office.  I have read numerous articles calling  the movie’s success a “surprise” which is insulting.  Anyone who watches Oprah would know Steve Harvey’s book was a huge best seller and appeared on the New York Times bestseller list a few years ago.

However, I am disturbed at the language used by the media calling Think Like A Man African American themed or an urban comedy.  I am aware Think Like A Man has a predominately black cast but the movie isn’t urban it is simply a romantic comedy. Think Like A Man is set in a city just like any other Hollywood movie but there is nothing urban about it.

I am not suggesting there isn’t black and white movies because obviously there is. However, African American films were created by filmmakers because mainstream Hollywood ignored the black audience. People want to see people that look like themselves represented on the silver screen.

There appears to be these racial barriers that still exist when the mainstream press utilize coded language to distinguish between movies with a black cast and a white cast. The word urban is obviously a code word meaning black.

It is disappointing in the year 2012 that the prejudice of the mainstream media about the success of a movie with a black cast.

Would the Hollywood Reporter or Variety call a Jennifer Aniston romantic comedy a white American themed movie? Of course not! The reason is a white movie is accepted as the mainstream and palatable to all. However, a movie with a black cast is considered a niche market. Think Like A Man‘s box office proves the movie obviously crossed over and reached a wide audience across racial lines.
