its a tough call- Blk people, for one, are very narrow minded, and also tied into the taboos set forth by Judeo-Christianity and even Islam. Also, as a Blk Hetero sexual man, we are often confronted with stereo types that have bashed our “right” to be proud as men, and our frustration can come out against others we feel are “less” than us, or who threaten what little position of security in terms of sexuality ,we have in our communnity.

We “know” that some of our people are gay, and AREN’T “the enemy”, but when you have potent, beautiful black women, like Queen Latifah or Mc Lyte, for exmaple, that don’t desire us, many feel left out or rejected by those who have access to power and standing.Ditto Blk women toward gay blk male performers and people of means( waiting to see IF Tyler Perry continues his hypocritical charade,or risks being truthful and possible losing is perdominently Blk women audience! I know Oprah NEVER will…)

Mr mann you make a lot of generalizations. First, white people in America created and legislated the anti gay laws not African Americans. This framework that blacks are somehow more homophobic than whites is simply not true. Obviously, you don’t pay attention to the American media and the powerful Republican Party that is anti gay.

MC Lyte is not gay. Sorry. I know her well. Wish she were.
